My Brothers Keeper Philadelphia

In September 2014, President Obama invited communities to join the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Challenge to build and execute robust action plans to ensure that all young people achieve their full potential. The MBK Challenge asked each community to develop action plans that addressed one or more of the six MBK milestones. The milestones are:

  • 1: All Children Enter School Ready
  • 2: All Children Read at Grade Level by 3rd Grade
  • 3: All Youth Graduate from High School
  • 4: All Youth Complete Post-Secondary Education or Training
  • 5: All Youth Out of School are Employed
  • 6: All Youth Remain Safe from Violent Crime and have a Second Chance

Philadelphia accepted the MBK Challenge and created a plan to address each of the six MBK milestones.

MBK Philly is a Philadelphia collective that engages and empowers individuals and organizations to take action in dismantling systems of inequality to create measureable change for youth. Our vision is to eliminate the disparity in outcomes for boys and young men of color.
