"CPI gave me the skills I need to help other people, and that really matters. The class gives you the tools, and what you do with it is your own creative process. I loved it! It made me realize there were things I could accomplish, that it was doable and tangible."

Kyle Shenandoah, Class of Spring 2017

The Citizens Planning Institute extends its deepest condolences for the unexpected loss of Kyle Shenandoah in a tragic accident. Kyle was a selfless public servant, a community activist, and an incredible friend to all.

Not only was he a graduate of the program and serving on the CPI Alumni Committee, he also served on the SEPTA Citizen’s Advisory Committee, the Tasker-Morris Neighbors Association and as Treasurer on the Mayor’s Millennial Advisory Committee. He was the proud son of the Grays Ferry neighborhood who did everything in his individual power to lift up his community and the people that live there. Kyle truly led by example. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the inspired community he has left behind. We are all better for having known him.

Funds donated in Kyle’s memory will support CPI program scholarships. Donations may also go toward specific memorial projects, as determined by donors.
